New Prayer Group Forms by John Mossel

Who can forget the Bible stories of God's mighty deeds in ages past? You know them all -- how God intervened and saved the Israeli people time and time again. That God is still that same God today, He changes not, but sadly our situation in this world does not change either.

Print and electronic media rush all the news from around the world to our homes many times a day. And it is not good news. Most of it deals with unimaginable suffering (Darfur) and conflicts (Lebanon, Israel, Gaza, etc.) and wars (Middle East --Iraq, Afghanistan) and threats of nuclear arms (Iran, North Korea). so we have meetings and more meetings -- how to solve these problems, who can help? Yes -- who can help? We know -- Our Lord God can help!! Why not as Him?

At our Westminster Presbyterian Church Session meeting of September 11, the Elders approved the start of a new prayer group to meet and pray about these and many other problems and to ask God's guidance and help to bring peace and harmony to this world.

God specifically invites us to bring concerns to Him in prayer. Philippians 4:5, 6 says:

"The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving make your request known unto God."

If you feel called to be part of this prayer group and participate for 45 minutes every two weeks then please call the church office or call John Mossel (call the church office at 302-227-2109 for John's telephone number). We will organize a planning meeting soon. A sign-up sheet can be found in the Narthex. Please consider this prayerfully. Thank you.

We can make a difference, because God hears prayer.

-John Mossel
